Forward mail? That’s unheard of!

Apparently the concept of going to the local post office and asking for your mail to be forwarded to a new address doesn’t exist in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Umm, what??? Sigh. At least not at the branch in Berjaya Times Square Mall. Of course I only realized this after the lady at the counter was quick to nod her head in agreement when I asked about forwarding mail to Singapore. That was definitely a sign something was wrong because I never get a quick answer for office/admin related things in KL, instead it’s usually “I don’t know and I have to ask my boss”. Luckily I had a friend with me who translated my question into Bahasa Malaysia (local language). Then we saw the very confused look on the postal employee’s face (something I’m more familiar with) while she proceeded to tell us they don’t have that service. Supposedly they have it online at Pos Malaysia’s website but I can’t seem to find that either.
